'Something similar' archive

In the beginning, we were quite unsure what to do for this project, so we decided to start by collecting photos of similar things from the cities we live in.
We wanted to build on that so we decided to each send the other person 5v pictures, without saying anything about them, and to create a story about it. We also split the day in 2, so one of us could only take nighttime photos(me), while the other was only allowed day photos.

I made a story about a fish going to town. I tried translating the things written in mandarin, but I was not able to understand what they are, other than something related to horses and bets. While we were talking in the past, I mentioned that Nottingham used to be known for lace, so I thought that I could layer some fabric scans for some interesting textures that also bring some Nottingham into the illustrations. Sadly, I do not own any lace, so I used normal fabric from a local store.

WE had a lot of fun doing the zines, so we decided that for the exhibition we should create 5 mini-zines about different topics, that have Nottingham on one side, and Hong Kong on the other. We also wanted to figure out if we could package and present them in an interesting way.
Initially, because the exhibition was closing in, we decreased it to just four zines, so now that we have more free time again we want to discuss reorganising some of the stuff that we previously decided to do.

I wanted to start working on the zines, even if we have more time now, but I also stopped pretty early since we still have a lot to discuss, but my partner is not available right now because of his final submission.
Since Kitsons' way of working for this project has been quite minimalistic, I decided to also tone it down and use a monochromatic palette.
This project is still ongoing for now so I am excited to see where it goes and what my partner has done.
